Fewer than 12% of all speakers worldwide achieve this recognition, and Colleen is one of only 23 nurses in the world to have done so.

With a background that spans every corner of healthcare—critical-care nurse, educator, administrator, business owner, and healthcare consultant—Colleen truly knows the profession from the inside out. She conducted a groundbreaking three-year study on patient fears. That research, The Patient Empathy Project™, revealed that patient fears are highly correlated with HCAHPS scores, an insight that prompted hospitals to rethink their approach, transform patient care, and ultimately earn millions more in revenue.

Over the course of her speaking career, Colleen has taken the stage across the globe—from Honolulu to Moscow—captivating audiences with humor, heart, and hard-earned insights. A past president of the Central Florida chapter of the National Speakers Association, she is deeply committed to helping other nurses step confidently into the speaking profession.

Colleen’s academic background includes degrees in both nursing and business, along with a master’s certificate in project management. She is also the founder of Sweeney Healthcare Enterprises. Beyond her formal education, she credits an early passion for improvisational comedy with shaping her ability to energize audiences, think on her feet, and spark possibility in others.
